Sunday, August 29th.
After breakfast, the girls got dressed up in snow suits and ski boots and headed down to ride on the Ski Club cart in the Cavalcade. They took their masks off for the ride. Max and I wore masks to watch the parade. Perhaps only about 10% of spectators were wearing masks.
We didn't go up into the village at all. The girls got on the cart on the road down below our house which is used for the staging area. Then, after their three loops around the village, they got back off in the same place and we walked back up the hill to the house. I think they still enjoyed themselves, in spite of the much more condensed festival experience than what they remember from several years back.
Back home, the girls played Jungle Speed and Monsieur Je Sais Tout with Max until Guillaume arrived about 12:30 for lunch. We hung out on the patio all afternoon with various combinations of people going in the pool at different times. For dessert, we put a candle in a cupcake and sang Happy Birthday to Max. Guillaume called his brother Julian in Washington, DC to wish him a happy birthday, and we took a photo for Max to send to Dana to wish him a happy 59th birthday.
When the sun went down, we came in and joined the last part of the hangout. Unfortunately, we missed Evan, but Max got to see Dad, Mom, Roy and Rachel.
We found out that Max is also a fan of Sherlock Holmes so Maeva asked him to do the story time honors this evening. Max read about five pages from "The Stockbroker's Clerk."

Hope there's not a big Lascours Delta outbreak in a week or two.
I wouldn't be surprised. Just in time for a class closure to have me starting the semester teaching from home again.
