Washington Reopen, Day 43

Thursday was supposed to be hot, but wildfire smoke has also arrived. I watered the yard in preparation this morning.

I had an interview scheduled at noon, so I had a late lunch. Nicole had heated something up for me. After that, Nicole and Lydia went to water the yard that they got training for last week. Nicole said a teenager accosted them there, saying, "I'm watering the yard!" Apparently she was asked to do it in the morning, and we in the afternoon. This yard may be spoiled.

I had to chase the kids upstairs a couple times because they were making too much noise playing Heave Ho on the Switch. I finished up work while Nicole was picking up Rachel, and rounded up the kids to ride the bike to the farmer's market to pick up dinner. They waited by the bleachers at Big Howe while I got six dinners.

We met Nicole and Rachel at Paola's house. Rachel was disappointed in my dinner selection, but I think she may just have been grumpy from not having eaten enough. She had only had half her sandwich and some grapes at lunch. She seemed in a better mood after consuming the burrito that she hadn't wanted. Colin was antsy to get back home to claim a time-sensitive reward in Roblox. He thought it expired at eight, but we came back before then and he discovered it had ended at 7:30, instead. Bummer.

I baked a loaf of bread after we got home. I usually have baked in the morning, but that doesn't work for basketball camp. (Note to self: it won't work for school lunches, either.) Speaking of school, the district sent their weekly email. It says "if COVID transmission rates increase significantly in our community and region, we will be prepared to respond", but doesn't give any details, yet. They will have testing for students with symptoms or suspected exposure. And they will distribute computers or iPads again to each student. That may be part of a back-up plan. We'll see.
