Wednesday was warmer in Seattle, with a high in the upper 80s. We're expecting 90s over the next couple days, and maybe a record high on Friday. Nicole watered the front yard this morning, in preparation.
Rachel had her third day of basketball camp. She said everyone seemed sore today, walking a little funny. Holding defensive stances will do that. She got herself a Seattle U basketball t-shirt, today. And her team won both their games, though Rachel didn't make any baskets.
I had a couple extra meetings at work, and the day kept me pretty busy. Colin was asking to buy a new Switch game, so I asked him to read. He sat on the front porch in the camp chair. Eric also read, though reluctantly. They played Heave Ho for much of the rest of the day. Each player consists of a head and arms, and can grip with their hands and move about by holding onto things and brachiating. It's challenging.
Nicole had a PTA meeting after dinner. We considered a walk for me and the kids, but Rachel was tired, and the others just wanted to play, so I read some books, instead. Now I'm racking my brain for the interesting tidbit I learned from Gathering Moss, but it's not coming back to me. Did I really learn it, then? I read two chapters, one about Sphagnum and one about Splachnum, and then started a third, but I think it was in the first one. Maybe I'll remember to look for it tomorrow.

I almost forgot, but I found what I think I had meant to say I learned, which is that carnivorous plants use insects as a source of nitrogen, because it is not readily available in Sphagnum bogs.
Surprised that was new info for you, but as much as you read, it seems to indicate that not too many authors have found a way to get that into their plots.
Indeed! Is it that authors wanted to included, but couldn't find a way, or that they too were ignorant? Perhaps both.
