Wednesday, May 13th. Reopening Day 3.
It was raining when I let Tiger out at 6, but it had stopped by the time I got up an hour later. It remained overcast or partly cloudy for the rest of the day, however, and started raining again around dinner time.
I enjoyed a relaxing breakfast and spinning on my own.
Then, the girls came home and the drilling work began again. The noise this morning was particularly mind-frazzling while simultaneously trying to work and supervise school work. Luckily, it had mostly stopped by 10:30 when Maëva started an online tutoring session with her teacher. They did some grammar and symmetry exercises. Maëva's teacher asked if Maëva would like to come to her house on Friday, May 22nd with a small group of classmates to have an outdoor class session. Maëva would like to do that, but Sylvain and I haven't decided whether or not to let her. It doesn't go along with our current thinking about continuing stricter protocols than advised by the government . . .
Workwise, I spent most of the day correcting translations. Then, I helped Maëva organize her school work.

We nearly forgot the girls' piano lesson. I suddenly remembered with just enough time to connect the laptop to Skype and get it in position. Phew! During piano, I made banana muffins and played hair salon with Laureva. We used some of her recently rediscovered toys. After, while the girls were cleaning up and getting jammies on, I dusted and vacuumed the upstairs. I had to use elbow grease under the table where the girls had spilled food.
Homemade cream of mushroom sauce over pasta for dinner. Fruit salad for dessert.

I just bought a steam cleaner with the hopes of making things cleaner with less elbow grease. Hopefully, it will work as promised.
They work great! Mine is broken. I could have borrowed Marie-Elisabeth's. However, my strategy is basically to do the minimum necessary until the cleaning lady can come back!
What's your mushroom soup recipe? I wonder if it would work well with my dries mushrooms. I want to make sure I have good meals the next time Evan comes to visit.
In a saucepan, I sautée the mushrooms in about a tablespoon of butter with seasoning. I add about a tablespoon of flour, then gradually add in milk until I get the desired consistency.
