Lascours Lockdown, Day 67

Wednesday, May 20th. Reopening Day 10. Beautiful warm sunny day. 

Yesterday, we received an invite to a  Sunday barbecue from some Lascours friends. We declined as we're still practicing social distancing. However, I've noticed that less and less people around us are.
This morning, after spinning, the girls and I spent the rest of the morning building a new enclosure for the tortoises. I didn't want to have to waste time standing in line at the hardware store, so we made do with what I could scavenge up around the house. I dug a four to five-inch trench to set the boards down into, then we piled up rocks around the nooks and crannies. We're using the metal cage from the old enclosure to protect the top. Back inside, I noticed a text from Maëva's teacher inviting her over Friday morning for two hours of educational games in her garden with three other classmates. I called her up and she assured me she would be respecting proper distancing and hygiene measures and had only invited the four calmest kids she could think of. I think we're going to let Maëva participate.

The tortoise project must have tired me out. The rest of the day was low energy for me. 
About 2:30, Evan called using Hangouts. He was testing it. It's working again on my computer. Must have just been down momentarily yesterday. We chatted for about twenty minutes until it was time for him to get up and get ready for work.
This afternoon, I stopped grading translations when it was time for the girls' piano lessons. Laureva helped me add some nails and hooks to the turtle enclosure while Maëva played. While Laureva played, I finished switching out her winter and summer clothes. 

After piano, the girls went next door, so I started reading my new copy of Breakfast at Tiffany's and made some banana muffins.
